It is only through the recent introduction of a highly structured taxonomic data-model that internal data consistencies can be identified and corrected,
and this process is ongoing. Please let us know if you detect any errors in the data.
The data are continuously curated and updated and changes will appear on the website weekly.
New nomenclatural information based on scientific research is applied to the Plant Names Database as soon as possible after they are published.
Prior to being applied to the Database the publications are reviewed for nomenclatural and scientific errors by the expert systematists within
Landcare Research in collaboration with workers throughout New Zealand and elsewhere. All taxonomic treatments are applied without prejudice unless
there are serious scientific or nomenclatural errors or there are omissions that make the application of the treatment problematic.
